Real security at our ports

Andrew Leonard at Salon has an interesting new beat: Globalization. He has been making some excellent observations about how the global economy actually works, but I especially want to call attention to what he wrote about Dubai Ports World pending takeover of the operations of several U.S. ports. Hysterical (or is it cynical) fearmongering by the Right about "Arabs running our ports" is to be expected, but the "Democrats for America's Future" is engaging in the same shameful, racist fear-mongering.

Mr. Leonard explains it better than I can, so please read his piece. All I have to add to it is that we need better security at U.S. ports and that is the responsibility of the Department of Homeland Security (or is that the Department of Hopeless Stupidity?). I am certain that Dubai Ports World will follow whatever policies our government institutes, if they get the chance to run the ports at all.
