We are Borg

There's an article in today's edition of The Chicago Tribune about a successful experiment that involved implanting a computer chip in the motor cortex of the brain. The subjects of the experiment fell into two groups: Persons paralyzed by spinal cord injuries and persons suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). The chip picked-up signals from the neurons in the motor cortex and allowed the subjects to perform simple physical tasks such turning on a television, operating a computer, and moving a robotic arm.

This is exciting news for persons with physical disabilities. Read the article here.
